Question Words란?

Who, What, Where, When, Why, How 등 질문을 할때 사용하는 단어.

 

* When you are reading and want more information, it’s helpful to ask a question.

* Question Words는 글 안의 Key Detail에 대해 알 수 있도록 도와준다.

 

Key Detail이란?

a word or phrase that gives important information on a topic

 

* Knowing which question to ask will help to make sure you identify the correct key details.

 

예를 들어 디에고와 친구들이 숲에서 경주를 하다가 장애물을 만나서 해결하는 이야기를 읽는다면,

Who is the story about?

What is the story about?

When does the story take place?

Where does the story take place?

Why do Diego and his friends stop the race?

How do Diego and his friends finish the race?

 

The Keys in the detail

1. The beginning is the first important event in the story.

2. The middle is an important event that happens somewhere around the halfway point of the story.

3. The end is the last important event of a story.

 

In a story, the key details are

* The events: what happens in the story ( why, and how도 포함됨)

* The characters: who the story is about

* The setting: when and where the story takes place

 

* Key details help you learn the central message, or what the author is trying to teach you through the story.

** central message => what the text is trying to teach you

* Good writers use sentences to inform and explain information to other people.

When you inform or explain, you use facts to tell about real people, real places, and real things
